Cold and Frozen Scraplets

  • Snowballs and powder snow chill them. Chilled Scraplets are slower, and colder ones can’t fly and don’t bite as hard.
  • Three snowballs or a few seconds in powder snow freeze one solid. It drops out of the air encased in ice and turns into a Frozen Scraplet block when it lands. If it lands somewhere it can’t become a block, like in water, it stays encased and thaws after about 9 seconds.
  • In snowy biomes and on frozen peaks, wild Scraplets keep getting colder until they freeze solid, so you’ll find Frozen Scraplets lying around in the snow. Leading a swarm into the snow is a good way to deal with it.
  • Fire, lava, magma blocks, lit campfires and lit furnaces within 3 blocks thaw Scraplets fast and can wake a frozen swarm.
  • Tamed Scraplets don’t freeze just from being in the cold, but snowballs and powder snow still work on them.

A Frozen Scraplet is a block of see-through ice with a Scraplet curled up inside.

  • Mining it drops it as a block with the Scraplet still inside, so you can carry it around and place it somewhere else. Tamed ones stay tamed.
  • It never thaws in a cold biome. Anywhere else it thaws after about 30 seconds, or in about 2 seconds next to a heat source. The Scraplet climbs out too cold to fly for a few seconds. One placed from the Creative menu has a wild Scraplet inside and lets it out the same way.
  • If something else breaks the ice, like an explosion or a mob digging through it, the Scraplet breaks free.
  • Other Scraplets won’t eat through a Frozen Scraplet.
